How do you craft your day? We have talked extensively about weaving connection, depth, moments, and quality into our days but we haven’t yet discussed the practical aspects of how to plan our days with intention and purpose.

Over the years my wife and I have tried almost every iteration and option out there for calendars and schedules to coordinate our individual, home, family, and professional lives. Many “kinda” worked and had plenty of flashy bells and whistles. The electronic and online versions came with the promise to make our lives more efficient and productive. But, all fell short.

The one tool that stuck for us and has stayed the course has been our paper, Bullet Journal style, agendas. If you are unfamiliar with the Bullet Journal, it is often described as a “mindful practice designed as a productivity system” for organizing your day, month, and year.

This picture is a few years old. It was taken on one of our “planning” dates in town

Since we adopted the concept of the paper Bullet Journal, my wife and I have each had one for every year for the past 8 years. A new one is started every December, for the upcoming year, with minor modifications and updates made with how the bullet journal system is applied to us individually based on how we have evolved and what has worked, or not worked, over the past year.

More important than the system used though, is the superpower that my wife and I have gained from working together to craft, plan, and interconnect our lives.
